It gives you the perfect excuse to look for some winter sun. At this time of year if you have a small budget, the choice of destinations can be quite limited. However you can always relay on the Canaries. There are a number of islands to choose from depending on what you are after for your trip. Lovely hotels, nice beaches and a good night life can be found for those looking for a relaxing time.

What’s so great about Australia?

Why do so many people visit Australia every year? It’s such a long way away, but some people go every year and others even move out there. I’ve been wondering why Australia is so popular, and here’s what I came up with:

• Surfing – Surfing conditions are brilliant in Australia; with so many beautiful beaches, it has almost become a national sport.

• The Australian outback – This stunning yet unusual natural feature is pretty awesome due to its sheer size, where desert plains of red sand stretch out for miles.

• Sydney – the stunning architecture of the Sydney Opera House, the beautiful harbour, the laid-back attitude, the weather…need I say more?

The three best places for city breaks

Going on a city break can be the most affordable and exciting ways to squeeze in a small holiday between working weeks, and it can also be the perfect present for a boyfriend or girlfriend. In my opinion, the three best city breaks are:

1. Berlin – I’ve only ever been to Berlin during the freezing winter, but the snow and cold seemed to suit the city somehow. Whether you’re a beer and bratwurst fan or a history buff, there are so many places to see; you’ll need to make an itinerary! Highlights include Berlin Zoo, the Brandenburg Gate and the Jewish Museum.

2. Amsterdam – I haven’t been yet, but people who have tell me that Amsterdam is not only a liberal and wild party city, but it is also a quaint, pretty and historical place to visit.

3. Paris – The ultimate city break. There are countless iconic places to see, and an amazingly cultural sophisticated atmosphere everywhere you go.

Hawaii named top winter sun hotspot

While temperatures in the UK are freezing and the weather is so very poor, a large number of people are looking to get away for a while to enjoy some winter sun. It’s a lovely feeling to experience a sunny climate when it’s the middle of winter back home; it can recharge your batteries after the Christmas period or even a couple of months of hard work.

Hawaii has recently been named by Expedia.co.uk as the sunny place UK holidaymakers would like to escape to. Temperatures reached 29°c during October and November, and these were amongst the coldest months in the UK last year. It may be a long way to go, but the beach, tropical weather and ‘aloha’ spirit are more than enough incentive to jet out there for a week or so. Other popular destinations include the Algarve, Mauritius and Andorra.

Popularity of Egypt

Egypt is quickly becoming a popular holiday destination for UK residents. In these hard times destinations like Egypt are being offered at a next to nothing to price. Saying that though how good is Egypt and what does it have to offer apart from the cheaper prices?

Egypt is has good weather throughout most of the year and a number of interesting sites to visit like:

• Pyramids
• Water Sports
• Safari
• Good nightlife

A number of groups are now using Egypt as a destination for stag and hen events as the nightlife is booming and there is lots of fun to be had.

South Africa and the World Cup

World Cup fever is hitting hard. 2010 will see the football world cup being held in Cape Town, South Africa. Thousands will descend on South Africa from all over the world to enjoy the different countries competing in one of the major sports competitions of the world. This will bring huge amount of tourism and income to the country of South Africa.

South Africa as a country is known to be a beautiful and exotic and very natural. They are famous for the wildlife reserves and the well preserved countryside. There are some amazing sites and attractions to see when in South Africa like:

• Sun City
• Cape Town
• Wildlife Reserves
• Water Parks
• Johannesburg

2010 World Cup will be a spectacular event held in one of the most beautiful countries of the world. This is well worth the time and money to go and see.

Tunisian Holiday

A couple of years ago I embarked on a holiday to Tunisia with friends. The appeal was the nice hotel displayed on the web and brochures with some pretty good reviews. It wasn’t very costly to say we had just come out of our student lives. Weather at the time of year was very hot and it seemed like a very nice place to visit. Not a huge amount in terms of attractions but it was to be more of a relaxing holiday than anything else. We booked it as an all inclusive to ensure that we wouldn’t have to worry about being fed and watered.

By the tone of this post I am sure you can tell where this is going. Disaster struck the minute we got into our room. First off the room had not been cleaned and the bell boy tried to disguise the fact by making us wait outside while he did some quick running around. A complaint to reception resolved nothing and we had to stay the night in the room given there was no other option. The next day we went to lodge a complaint which resulted in us being given a better room with a better view aswell, however this room has just been vacated and again they were reluctant to clean it. A full day of going back and forth to reception finally got the room cleaned and us settled in.

Food and drink was of poor and shoddy quality and this ultimately combined with their lack of hygiene ended in me and friends falling very ill. Our time together was spoilt and we came back miserable. Thumbs down Tunisia.
